Joint Press Release: Launch of the Digital NGO Project for non-profits in Tanzania

 

Tech & Media Convergency (TMC) in collaboration with Meta is announcing a series of programs for nonprofits building on a pilot which started in H2 2021. Meta’s programs for non profits have also been implemented in Nigeria and South Africa through a series of engagements including training, listening sessions and workshops for non-profit organizations. It aims to build social value, connect with more allies and ensure their platforms are being used as a force for good. Meta aims to support the non-profit and social impact sector across the SSA region with programming to help them learn to scale the impact of their work via the use of Meta’s platforms and leveraging on digital technologies.

The objective of the Digital NGO project is to influence digital adaptation through an holistic approach, so as to advocate for conversations and action for “Absolute Digitization” by adjoining digitally enabled technologies to the NGO community in Tanzania. These objectives are backed up with Meta’s commitment to Tanzania’s growth, by implementing programs that support nonprofits and the social impact sector in the country with intent to build strategic partnerships with local partners and policy stakeholders in the social impact space. The project will focus on applying a designed six-month Incubation program for 35 NGOs and a training programs for non-profits (Digital capacity building) for 1,000 individuals in the next twelve months, along with collaborative engagements with strategic key stakeholders towards realization of the agenda and sharing of resources on the state of the digital ecosystem for NGOs.

This also builds on the report; “An overview of Digital Ecosystem, emerging and applied technologies of NGOs in Tanzania” launched by Tech & Media Convergency (TMC) in 2021. Since the report was launched, thirty-seven NGOs have been trained via the pilot training program in H2 2021 and we look forward to reaching more nonprofits via our collaboration with Meta.
